How to Hack and Install more Games on the SNES Classic Mini
The Nintendo Classic Mini: SNES was launched at the end of September and the miniversity has now been fully hacked, allowing gangers to add their own ROMs to the system. This means that they will no longer be restricted to the games that have been pre-installed. It is a relatively simple installation process, but we want to warn everyone that there is a risk of irreparably damaging the console.
Nintendo Classic Mini: SNES
A developer named ClusterM has modified his Hakchi2 tool so it can also be used to add roms to the SNES Classic Mini. This means that users are not bound to the included games.
The developer mentions on the GitHub page of the tool that three-quarters of the games work well. In the corresponding Reddit thread he refers to a Google Docs file that tracks which games are functioning and not. For problematic games, users could also use the RetroArch mod, whose developer also released a new version.
The tool was also available for the NES Classic, which previously came out and has the same hardware on board. ClusterM, by itself, was not the first to develop a hack, but gave that honour to a Russian called madmonkey. ClusterM then made this tool accessible.
The SNES Classic Mini has built 21 games like Donkey Kong Country, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting, Super Mario Kart, Super Metroid and Star Fox 2.
